charge

assume every time you leave your designated box into gritscape that an unforeseen event may prevent your immediate ability to return to your primary source to extract charge and that additional charge may be needed to maintain perpetual connectivity

bring additional charge with you via a powerbank for your mobile device and other portable terminals carried with you, as well as a means to extract charge from a wall outlet

obtain a powerbank which allows you to open the case and replace the internal batteries. this will make the powerbank thicker than powerbanks which are developed with thin proprietary batteries which are not meant to be user replaceable, but will also allow for much greater serviceability and versatility of the powerbank

look for features supported by your powerbank like power management systems, charging speed, parallel charging of multiple devices at the same time, input/output ports, maximum output, portability of the powerbank design, and a case which will survive your use

some air travel restrictions do not accept powerbanks which exceed 100Wh of charge output or which have a charge capacity greater than 27,000mAh. they will not test the powerbank for this parameter as they assume it will be adhered to by a manufacturer. whatever the parameters of your powerbank, avoid a custom design that arises suspicion

the most versatile powerbanks allow passthrough charging. passthrough charging enables both your mobile device and your powerbank to be charged simultaneously while extracting charge from a wall socket. passthrough charging is prone to rapid power-cycling which places additional wear on the batteries. this can be monitored and avoided with a powerbank case with an embedded power management system and digital display

as an alternate use case, passthrough charging enables embedding a powerbank in a cyberdeck or other custom devices to serve a charge/battery function. this should be accompanied with additional cooling support as passthrough charging may rapidly heat the powerbank as well as other embedded internal electronics in a custom device

be aware of the general state of your powerbank while charging but do not worry about optimal charging conditions either for your powerbank or for your battery powered devices. it is more important to have powerbanks and battery powered devices that allow user service and replacement of batteries. batteries should be used freely until there is a negative impact on performance and charge capacity, then replaced

search for outlets to extract charge from as you navigate gritscape. note good wall outlets in gritscape locations you visit frequently. consider portable solar charging options for an emergency use case

do not lose charge, whether in your designated box or in gritscape
